The range-reality gap
You train square-range fundamentals at seven yards. Predators close the distance, grab, and never give you the shot you practiced.
Craig Douglas's complete ECQC curriculum, on demand. Managing unknown contacts, entangled shooting, weapon retention — the close-quarter reality the range never prepares you for. Courses, entertainment, live sessions with Craig, and a private practitioner community.
The gap
You train square-range fundamentals at seven yards. Predators close the distance, grab, and never give you the shot you practiced.
At 2 AM, you wonder if any of it would actually work — or if you'd lock up the moment it got physical.
Most violence involves grappling. If you've never trained your gun, your hands, and your base in the clinch, you've never trained for it at all.
The outcome

Situationally aware
Recognize pre-assault indicators and manage unknown contacts before violence ever begins.

Physically prepared
Train weapon access, retention, and empty-hand skills under real, resisting pressure.

Mentally ready
Know exactly what you'd do. No more 2 AM doubt about whether you could protect what matters.

About Craig
Craig Douglas (SouthNarc) founded ShivWorks after 21 years in law enforcement — most of it in narcotics and SWAT. Since 2003 he has taught entangled shooting and contact management globally: nearly every U.S. state, nine foreign countries, federal and local agencies, and special-operations units.
Extreme Close Quarters Concepts is the hardest class most students have taken — and the one they say changed how they train. The Network brings that same curriculum online: structured, on demand, and built for practitioners who need more than square-range repetition.

"One of the best courses in my 27-year Army career, majority in Special Forces. No wasted time. I am retraining my pistol draw from this."
"Taking this course was one of the best decisions I have ever made. You leave with invaluable knowledge and confidence."
"After 30+ self-defense classes in two years, ECQC stands out. I know of none better than ECQC with Craig and Brian."
"The program attracts really great people. Thank you for sharing your knowledge so skillfully."
